It's just that between work and school I feel like there is just no time for anything else! I have all of these ideas in my head and I just want to paint, crochet, take pictures, MAKE ART!
So one of the ideas that I can't stop thinking about is a mixed media piece based on lyrics to one of my favorite songs..."Imaginary" by Evanescence. The lyrics are as follows:
In my field of paper flowers,
and candy clouds of lullaby,
I lie inside myself for hours,
and watch my purple sky fly over me.
So in my head I picture a large canvas, with a painted purple sky with pink spray-painted polyfill for "candy clouds". Then at he bottom, a deep green painted background in which I will place a photograph of my goddaughter, Madison laying on the ground staring up at the sky. I will cut her out of the photo that I take and just use HER. She will be surrounded by a field of handmade paper flowers made from black and purple paper and maybe some printed papers as well. I'm thinking of writing lyrics on the black paper with a white sharpie before cutting the petal shapes.
This totally looks awesome in my mind, so I just hope it all pulls together when I actually MAKE it! I will be sure to post pics while in progress and when finished!
Until then, HAPPY FALL!

AMIGURUMI TEDDY BEAR
On my journey to making a business from my arts, I decided to take a year and learn new techniques, patterns, etc. While doing some research, I discovered AMIGURUMI. Amigurumi is a Japanese style of crocheted stuffed animals, dolls, etc. I just knew that I had to try this!
So here is my first attempt at making an amigurumi teddy bear.

Here she is. My very first Amigurumi teddy bear. I can definitely see where I need improvement, but I am still very satisfied with the way she turned out. I don't like the way the legs are attached, nor am I too fond of the face, so I'm going to work on learning a different method of attaching the legs and maybe get some actual eyes or use buttons for eyes. Overall, she was easy to make and I can't wait to make more!
Here is the tutorial I watched to learn how to make this bear:

CROCHET ADDICT!
I learned to crochet when I was around eight years old. My mother taught me how to chain and and double crochet and that was about all I could do until my early twenties when she started crocheting again and I learned how to make a granny square. I would crochet for a period of time, then forget about it for a while, then start back up again.

I think I was bored with only knowing a couple of stitches. In 2011, while recovering from both back surgery and a hysterectomy, I picked the hook back up to give me something to do while I was healing. I decided that I wanted to learn something new so I turned to YouTube.com and found videos showing how to crochet things other than granny squares. After I had made my first star afghan, I wanted to learn more and that is when the obsession began.

I realized that if I could watch a video and crochet along, that I could finally learn new patterns and not loose my interest in crocheting. I learned how to join granny squares and started making blankets that were more exciting than just going around and around in one continuous granny square.

A few months ago I attempted a hexagon instead of a granny square. I found this very time consuming, and didn't get beyond three hexagons, but I will definitely pick this project back up again later.

I recently went beyond the afghan realm and made a purse!

With the purchase of my first iPhone, I decided that I wanted to crochet a cover for it. So I found a video and taught myself how.

I definitely have found a passion in crocheting. I am constantly thinking about what I can make next, and in fact, I am about to try my hand at AMIGURUMI. Details to follow!
Thank you for checking out my blog. I will continue to post my creations as I make them along with links to the pattern or video if anyone should be interested in learning to crochet or just learning a new design!
HAPPY HOOKING!
