I learned to crochet when I was around eight years old. My mother taught me how to chain and and double crochet and that was about all I could do until my early twenties when she started crocheting again and I learned how to make a granny square. I would crochet for a period of time, then forget about it for a while, then start back up again.

I think I was bored with only knowing a couple of stitches. In 2011, while recovering from both back surgery and a hysterectomy, I picked the hook back up to give me something to do while I was healing. I decided that I wanted to learn something new so I turned to YouTube.com and found videos showing how to crochet things other than granny squares. After I had made my first star afghan, I wanted to learn more and that is when the obsession began.

I realized that if I could watch a video and crochet along, that I could finally learn new patterns and not loose my interest in crocheting. I learned how to join granny squares and started making blankets that were more exciting than just going around and around in one continuous granny square.

A few months ago I attempted a hexagon instead of a granny square. I found this very time consuming, and didn't get beyond three hexagons, but I will definitely pick this project back up again later.

I recently went beyond the afghan realm and made a purse!

With the purchase of my first iPhone, I decided that I wanted to crochet a cover for it. So I found a video and taught myself how.

1st cell phone case.
There were two problems with this pattern..the spaces between the stitches were too big and when your phone is ringing, it's kind of a pain to undo the button to get the phone out...so for the first time, I modified a pattern! I added a few more stitches and eliminated the flap and button.

I definitely have found a passion in crocheting. I am constantly thinking about what I can make next, and in fact, I am about to try my hand at AMIGURUMI. Details to follow!
Thank you for checking out my blog. I will continue to post my creations as I make them along with links to the pattern or video if anyone should be interested in learning to crochet or just learning a new design!
HAPPY HOOKING!
